The Round Chart is a circular flow chart, which provides an overview of the general characteristics and major cycles to which the subject of the chart is most intimately linked, as a function of time. The round chart assumes a geocentric view in which the central point of the chart represents the geographic location of the birth or event on the surface of the Earth. The positions and movements of the planets and other elements in the chart are plotted in degrees of Celestial Longitude against the backdrop of the Zodiac, using the Ecliptic as the base referent. The Zodiac is divided into three hundred and sixty degrees of longitude that are grouped into twelve thirty-degree signs or segments. Each degree of longitude is divided into sixty minutes and each minute is divided into sixty seconds of longitude. Each sign is further divided in two ways: three segments (decanates) of 10 degrees each. These correspond to the Functions (Sefirot) contained in that sign and their Quality. Secondly, four segments, each containing 7.5 degrees that indicate the divisions of the sign according to the elements (FIRE, WATER, AIR & EARTH).
